TEV, effects and causes of TEV malfunctionsb in refrigeration

It’s the regulator b/w high pr and low pr side.The pressure drop across the tev causes the evaporating temperature of the refrigerant to drop to the temperature in evaporator. Imp functions
1. it prevents refrigerant in liquid state coming to compressor.

2. it always maintains 5 degree super heat at the exit of the evaporator.( frosting on TEV- due to the presence of moisture causes TEV kept stuck open liquid in suction line -)
