  Writing the Oil Record Book, Part 1 (Machinery Space Operations) Oil record book is required for all tankers above 150 grt and  all other ships above 400grt. Operations required to be mentioned 1.Ballasting or cleaning of oil tanks 2.Collection and disposal of oil residues 3.Discharge overboard or disposal of bilge water from Engine room 4. Bunkering of fuels or bulk lubricating oil(in any tanks) Apart from the above, any accidental discharges of oil or oily mixtures must be entered with circumstances or reasons for discharge.
